The end of a new begining

Hi all, I firstly like to apologise for the lack of consistency in my blogging, the truth is my school life has taken up most of my spare time and it's been pretty full on throughout the entire from sport to in the classroom. Otherwise it feels great to write another post and I'm pretty keen to tell you about my journey so far at my new school Saint Kentigern College.

One highlight is that I have been playing basketball for most of the year, I have been playing for the U15's side and I have enjoyed every minute of it. It's really helped with my fitness, you know with all the running back and fourth, it's also improved my skills which include hand-eye co-ordination.

Another adventure would be my Rugby, our U15's team 1 win short of making the top four finals. We as a team all know we are one of the best teams in the competition but honestly knew we didn't play to what was our potential as a team. We played great in different bits and patches but it was all too late while an upset win put us in a narrow position to make the top four. Looking down on my own performance I believe that I did a good job on the wing, I wasn't really comfortable in the position but I gave it my best shot, I trained well and was credited with a few tries throughout the season. Now all I do is wait for next season as I got nothing to do in the weekends anymore!

Another highlight involved with Rugby is that I went down to a tournament in Hastings called the Quadrangular held by a lovely school called Lindisfarne College. I was selected to go down with the 2nd XV side, I was hugely honored to even be considered for this historic event and am still on a buzz on how awesome the experience was! I have to tell you, sitting in a minivan squashed in between all your mates for six straight hours isn't an awesome feeling, but I got to say it all paid off when we got down there. I was billeted with a half a dozen mates and we had an awesome house to stay in, with a pool table as well as  table tennis. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and thanked them many times over for their awesome hospitality. We played two games and they were against top 1st XV from the lower part of the country (Wellington, Christchurch) I started on the wings for both games and was hugely thankful for the opportunity. We lost against Scotts College (soon to be crowned the new champs) by two tries to three, we were proud of our efforts and I was lucky enough to score on debut. Our second game was a fairly one sided affair against St Andrews. We weren't communicating on defense enough which proved costly when they utilized their decisive backs out wide.

Another memorable experience was attending the formal dinner held in the college's dining hall, very traditional, prestigious feel to the occasion which I emphatically enjoyed. The food was awesome by the way!

These have been only SOME of the awesome highlights I've had throughout the year, I'm only just starting college and yet it's been so exciting, I'm keen for new challenges as well as oppurtunities to arise. GO THE MIGHTY SAINTS!!!!! (We won Nationals, we are the best school in the country at RUGBY)!!!!!

Manu Samoa shock the Wallabies

Not so long ago I was playing video games and then my dad frantically yelled,”Quickly change it to the news!”. I wondered what was the big news was pushing the numbers as fast as I could. Breaking News, “Manu Samoa are now celebrating their biggest victory in the modern era winning against the world No.2 in Rugby the Wallabies 23-32. Watching the highlights again I was stunned watching Samoa score tries which carried them to victory. Samoa scoring through beastly winger Tuilagi, Pesi,Thompson and Williams all tries that they worked hard for.

Australia will certainly be disappointed in their efforts especially if they have just started there preparation for the World Cup and the Tri Nations. With the Australian team the Queensland Reds coming off a Super 15 Grand Final win Australia would've’e been looking to carry that hype onto the footy field but were unfortunately outclassed by Samoa.

Samoans from all over the world are surely proud of their country are hoping they can have as much heart as they did today when they prepare for the big one (The Rugby World Cup). What a proud moment for Samoans around the world, Samoa making world history beating Australia for the first time ever. CONGRATULATIONS TO SAMOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christchurch in a Crisis

Even more sad events are happening at this very time in Christchurch New Zealand, the earthquakes are striking once again, there are many buildings that have been destroyed by this tragic happening, but even sadder things took place, the 3 news presenters have reported that more than 60 people have died from the earthquake.

They say that there may be a lot more people that have passed away, maybe even double. But some of the Christchurch citizens are helping rescue groups to save and rescue people that have been collapsed on by buildings, some may be badly injured, some might be found unconscious, and maybe even dead.

I saw many photos and footage of some destroyed buildings, the atmosphere for those people must be horrifying, God bless those who will work through the night to save others lives.

May God be with those people who are suffering and may he guide them to their safety........................

The Countdown.......

Hours away of knowing the result of the All Whites Fate is really getting to my head. It is quite exciting to know that New Zealand have a chance of making the second round. Watching a show on Sky Sport two that is called "In South Africa", it is quite an interesting watching this show. It has a bus of of tourist there for the world cup. They've just finished soccer with the locals. It gives a perfect build up to a game of the Soccer World Cup. The All Whites are going to give the Paraguay people a good run for their money surely, ALLLLLL WHIIIIIITES!!!!!!!!! 1.30am - will you be there?

Putting myself into their shoes!

Throughout the week we have been doing a lot of literacy. The most recent subject would be writing. Our teacher Mrs Nua has told us about one of the highlights in her holiday. It was about her daughter who went on a Bungee Jump. She showed us shots of the moment. She gave us a very brief and descriptive story about when her daughter was getting ready to jump and when she had jumped. So our Teacher told us to put ourselves into her daughters shoes and to wright an exciting but short story so here is my story:

I stood there feeling crackled as I looked 40 metres down thinking about Bungee jumping made me want to puke. I stood there getting ready to jump 40 terrifying metres down off Hanmer Bridge. It was to late now, So I had no choice but to jump.

My stomach gurgled out loud like a jammed sewage pipe. I had a stomach ache. It was do or die now (die as in I would get a punishment from my mum because it cost a a lot of money to jump off a BRIDGE!!!) I jumped!! And my chest was as numb I took a jump of fright. "AAAHHH!!!!!!" I screamed like a helpless girl saying to myself, "I'm so stupid to think this was a cool idea!!"

I flew down like a Phoenix. As I was still screaming with terror I felt a nice cool breeze glide threw my non dyed hair. It felt so refreshing and terrifying at the same time in fact it was a mixed bag of emotions!! I was still falling and the ground got closer and closer, closer, closer ............AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I shut my eyes and was about to cry! But then suddenly BOOIIINNNGGG?!?! I opened eyes in question, "I'm alive? I"M ALIVE!!!" I suddenly feel a lot better knowing that I had survived that breathtaking jump!

Another AWESOME camp for Point England

"WOOOOHOOO" was what I yelled out when we were on the Ferry as we were on our way to KAWAU Island. It was for year six only and boy was I looking forward to having a so much fun!

We had so many cool activities. We had a " Confidence course" that's all about conquering your fear in different types of courses. There was also sailing which was actually my favourite activity because I was the controller of the boat and the waves took us on one heck of a ride. Another FANTASTIC experience was getting to absail it was absolutely 'Heart Pounding!!' I was hooked onto a rope and I had to lower myself down a wall. I'll let you guys on a little secret........ I'm scared of HEIGHTS!! I just can't stand tall buildings especially when I'm looking down!!

I will never forget the man who changed my taste buds life his name is Mr Coop - or you could just call him well I don't know THE BEST COOK IN THE WORLD!!!! From the moment his world famous bread went into my mouth he had sent my mouth on one WILD ADVENTURE!!! I just couldn't believe what had happened to me!!

I was a leader and my group name was Kawau and we were the overall WINNERS. But when we had a Concert and everybody did an item we had come second and a group called the "Katz" won the item. My dad came along and helped out it was fun having my dad with me. He would tell jokes to everybody and they would start laughing!! I can't wait to go again (if I go again!) CAMP BENTZON ROOOOOOCCCCCKKKKKKSSSS!!!!!!!

COME ON TIGERS!!!

The West Tigers came back with two wins to barge there way into the top eight. With an absolute cliff hanger of a match when they won against the Manly Sea Eagles who were coming seventh, It was one good score 19-18 to the West Tigers and another win to the Sydney Roosters 17-10 it was a scrappy win but it was enough to send them into the top eight!! (The top seven to be exact!)

Through out the past four matches Taniela Tuiaki has been in devastating form for the Tigers he has scored EIGHTEEN that's right EIGHTEEN tries through out the whole season. That is how many tries Paul Whatuira scored for the Tigers in 2005. But the record for the Tigers try scoring is Pat Richards with 20 tries in 2005. Lot's of Tigers got heaps of tries in 2005 that's because they were the champions in 2005!!!

There next match is against the Cronulla Sharks I hope they win this next game because if the Cowboys lose there next game against the Canterbury Bulldogs the West Tigers will go into 6th place. It's going to be one cliff hanger of the match but I want the Bulldogs to win this!! Let's hope the Tigers win for a start aye?!?!?!

GO THE TIGERS

MAN WHAT HAPPENED TIGERS!?!?!

OK since the Tigers LOST 14 nil I'm going to support a different team now!! NOT - I'm still going to support the Tigers!! For me the player of the day for the West Tigers would have to be Daine Laurie because of his big breaks in the tackle and his Barn Storming tackle on Manu Vatuvei. That was a thrilling game by the Warriors. I was wrong about the Tigers being better than the Warriors, they are both kind of equal to be honest.

And what a FANTASTIC first game for the up and coming Super Star ''The Rookie Kevin Locke". It was awesome to see him get TWO tries on his very first game he played. It was kind of like this Kiwi Boy last year who played for the Gold Coast Titans and his name was Jordan Rapana. He was stunning and scored two of the most spectacular tries of last year. Kevin Locke got his last try in the 74 minute. It was a very good one don't you think??

Well let's hope that the Tigers will win their next game against the PENRITH PANTHERS. Man, won't that be a match up!! GO THE TIGERS!!!!

The Pundit

What is 'Pundit?' Well I looked in a dictionary and found this... '1. an expert in a particular subject or field who is frequently called on to give opinions about it to the public'.

It all started from when I was presenting about what we learn at Pt England School. On this particular day a reporter and a professional photographer were listening to our group of presenters. The reporter's name is Lauren Bartlett and the photographer was Chris Skelton.

After the presentation I got interviewed by these two people about what I thought about Blogging and what it's all about. I got asked many questions and it was really cool for me to talk to someone who is interested in what I do.

Chris Skelton, the Professional Photographer, took a photo of me when I was in the middle of blogging. Oh and by the way the magizine that I was on was the number one business magazine in 2008 which is soooo cool!!

This really makes me proud of myself and what I have achieved throughout the past year since I've been blogging - from year 5 till now - year 6. This motivates me to work harder for more upcoming events that I will blog on.
Thanks Idealog - Lauren and Chris!
Thanks to Chris Skelton for the fantastic photo
